Well, look at this. It's the first national poll that shows Barack Obama ahead of Hillary Clinton in the Democratic contest for the nomination. (Albeit in a statistical dead-heat.) Wow.
I'm thinking about all of this in a new way . . . this next President will, most likely, be in office until Maia is ten years old, thanks to our little habit of re-electing our first term Presidents. So who is it that I want to be in office for the first decade of Maia's life?? Who inspires me, who do I hope is the person whom Maia remembers as her first President?
(For me, it was Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Ick.)
