Odds and ends

  • Maia's running with Brian a couple of times a week to "train" for her one-mile run (The Gallup Gallop) on the morning of July 11th.
  • Our farm share has been bountiful thus far, and our backyard veggies are growing beautifully. The romaine, basil, and tomatoes are particularly lovely; there are some little marble-sized green tomatoes on several of the vines, and I like to take a peek at them every day and imagine how delicious they'll taste in just a few weeks.
  • This week has been one day after another of spending as much time outdoors as possible before the really heavy heat hits this weekend.
  • Maia and Brian have just arrived in the driveway after sailing with Papa all afternoon at Kensington Metropark. I spent the afternoon sitting outdoors, reading, cleaning the house, and wasting time browsing the web.
  • I'm in week 36 of my pregnancy, which means I'm "full term" a week from today. I'll see my midwife again next week, and then (I think) a couple of weeks after that.
  • I've been telling people over the last two weeks that I feel like I could be pregnant for months. I feel absolutely fantastic, which is such a thrill. I have some of the usual challenges, of course (turning from one side to the other in bed at night is a process!), but overall I'm feeling much better during my third trimester than I did during my second. I'm just really getting a kick out of this, and I'll miss it so very much when it's over.
