A quick post before I head off for the evening to teach childbirth class . . .
1) Maia is now in the midst of her first cold. A few months ago, we thought she was sick, but it was a reaction to the dry air in the house at the beginning of the summer (due to the A.C.). But this time, it's the real thing. She has a runny nose and had a temp of 101 yesterday evening. You can bet that I'm desperately hopeful that she's over this by the time we get on the plane on Friday morning!
2) Maia's saying her very first word! We were very hesitant to say this for certain, but it's undeniable. Her first word is "Hi!" When Brian or I comes into the room (particularly after a longer absence), we wave and say "Hi!" Maia then responds with a wave of her own and "Haaa" or "Heh" or sometimes "Hi." But it's always one syllable, and it always begins with the /h/ sound! :)
3) Not a "first," but a fifth . . . she has her fifth tooth, now. Now she has three teeth peeking through on the top, and two that are more prominent on the bottom.
