Art Fair

We went to East Lansing today. What did we do?
  • Went to the East Lansing Art Fair. Much smaller and more manageable than Ann Arbor's. We ate red beans and rice, gumbo, and jambalaya for a snack (Maia enjoyed all three), and then looked at all of the booths and tents that line the streets of downtown and MSU's campus.
  • Wandered around in the Beaumont Tower area of MSU's campus. Maia likes fountains, so we hung out by the library fountain for a bit. She tossed pennies and a couple of nickels into the fountain and splashed her hands in the very cold water.
  • We spent some time sitting on the ground, as directed by Maia. Here's how she does it: she'll say your name (as in "Mama" or "Nana" or whatever), and then, after you respond with a "Yes, Maia?" she'll say "sit!" Her pronunciation of "sit" at this time actually sounds something like "zeet!" In our house, her favorite spot for this whole sitting endeavor is on the step leading from our kitchen into the family room.
