| From Charlevoix |
Hey. It's Saturday, and we returned from our vacation at Lake Charlevoix at about 6:00 this evening. We are collectively exhausted, in a very good way.
It was a wonderful week. The weather was deliciously sunny and beautiful the entire time, the cottage was just great (again, a million thanks to Mom and Dad H.), and all three of us knocked several things off of our respective "what I want to do on vacation" lists.
- Brian sailed the boat every day. Even on the really windy day...that was an adventure across the lake with Aunt/Sis Katie!
- I re-read The Fellowship of the Ring.
- Maia swam in Lake Charlevoix every day, and even took a couple of dips in Lake Michigan, thanks to Papa Stan in particular.
- Lots of ice cream was consumed in downtown Charlevoix and Boyne City.
- Lots of S'Mores were consumed on our cottage lawn.
- I went swimming in Lake Charlevoix almost every day, and got more of a suntan than I've had in a decade. It was wonderful!
- Maia learned several new phrases: "car boat" (the Ironton Ferry), "Nuts! House fall down!" (what to say when your sand castle doesn't stick together), "One...two...three...throw rock!" (what to say when throwing countless rocks in the lake).
- Maia spent tons of time with her Aunties Jo and Katie, who are moving to their respective East Coast cities before the end of this month. Maia became very fond of giving Katie and "Jo Jo" affectionate fist bumps throughout the week.
