We had a lovely appointment with our midwife today in honor of starting the third trimester. :) All is well. Baby's heart rate was around 130, my belly is measuring a week or so ahead (but that's well within the normal range), and my own personal blood pressure was 101/58. 58!!! I guess the continued working-out on the elliptical is paying off! I don't think that I've ever had a blood pressure reading that low.
This baby, unlike Maia, is extremely active in-utero and really reacts to touch/pressure from the outside. Maia was really mellow and would barely move for hours on end--even a day or so, a couple of times. When our midwife put the Doppler on my belly today, over on the right side, she only was able to maintain a strong read on the heartbeat for a few seconds before baby flipped over completely to the other side of my belly. He/she "ran" away as far as the space allows. :) Oh, and for good measure, baby gave the Doppler a good whack on my left side when it caught up to him/her again. Brian hasn't been able to actually see most of the movements just yet, but he said that he was able to see that one.
Despite the occasional bouts of morning sickness and nausea (about 1-2 times a week, still), I'm feeling like a million bucks. I love the contrast of experiencing later pregnancy in the spring and summer, as opposed to the late fall and winter. Most days, I'm still wearing my non-maternity skirts and dresses that I wore all last summer and the one before; non-maternity pants aren't an option, but dresses most definitely are. I feel so comfortable and happy with the sunshine, warmth, trips to the park with Maia, and time breathing fresh air.

Matthew and Andrew both played tag with the Doppler at my appointments too. A few times the doctor gave up because he wouldn't stay still for long enough to get an accurate reading.
