Sunday morning. Our weekly pancake breakfast at the dining room table. Maia, Brian and I talking about why apples have seeds (so animals eat them, poop them out, and disperse the apple trees to other places). We move on to "coffee shop at home" during which we all read books--Brian's reading
Harry Potter, Maia has
Where the Sidewalk Ends, and I'm reading a non-fiction book about North Korea called
Nothing to Envy. Eli has his milk and then goes on to take a cuddly nap upstairs with me.
Quiet moments. Ordinary time. A long holiday weekend filled with no obligations. We all really have to fight for this, to keep our family time sacred and free from distractions.
