Family and friends

From Early January

We've been really lucky to have time with lots of our family and friends over the last several days. I've just posted a few photos that have captured some of these moments with Aunt Katie and our friends Harper and Esme.

We've just returned from East Lansing, where we spent time with the Hecker family, remembering our Papa Stan through stories, photos, and time together. Maia handled the time at the memorial service and at Nannie's house afterward very well--she met many new people today, and also had her first tastes of jambalaya, cornbread, and coleslaw. She's returning to one of her earliest communicative gestures: the wave "hello" and "goodbye." It's a very cute wave, with her fingers curling open and closed into her palm, like a fist.

Tomorrow afternoon we'll see our friends in Mother's Group, and then next week we have our first meeting with the baby sign language class/playgroup. All three of us are going to the class together, and I think it will be a great way to have time together as a family and learn some new ways of interacting with Maia at the same time!
