Odds and ends

More two-word phrases from Maia:

• "Dada/Mama, bike!" (When she sees either of our bikes in the garage.)
• "Dada/Mama, swing!" (When she wants one of us to get on the swing next to her.)
• "Dada/Mama, help!"
• "Dada/Mama, more!"

Another cool development this weekend was the beginning of Maia's ability to verbally identify herself. She says "Mai-Mai" or "Mah-nee" to refer to herself while proudly patting herself on the chest. This initially caused some confusion on Mom and Dad's part, because "mah-nee" is very similar to her pronunciation of "banana"--it's all about context! :)

Maia's had a bit of a temperature off and on for the last couple of days, but she's really not showing any other symptoms other than a bit of crankiness. Still, her temp topped-out at 104.1 degrees today. Yikes. I've had a cold/cough/congestion thing since Friday evening, so our guess is that Maia is fighting that off (with the help of my milk's antibodies--yay to toddler nursing!).

Other than that, all there's left to say is "Happy First Birthday!" to Maia's cousin, Matthew! :) And happy seventeen-monthday to Maia tomorrow.
