Big Girl Update

This will probably be the last of our updates about visits to our pediatrician. From this point onward, Maia only will go once a year, and things are calm and worry-free, as always. I like recording this information for memory's sake, but I doubt that it will make exciting reading years from now! :)

Anyway, here's the info, just for old time's sake:

Weight: 26 lbs., 7 oz. (about 40th percentile?)
Height: 36 in. (90-95th percentile)
Head circumference: 50.6 cm (95th percentile)

So, Maia is tall for her weight, and has a big noggin! Sound familiar? This has been the story for months, which basically is a sign that all is well and Maia might have settled into her default body characteristics.

As a part of the ordinary screening process for 2 year olds, the pediatrician asked me "Is she saying two-word sentences?" My honest answer is "Yeah, actually, she's saying nine or ten-word sentences." I then gave her an example from last week: "Uncle Lu sit in the back seat with Maia, in Maia's car." Needless to say, our doc thought this was pretty awesome, and she laughed a bit.

Maia had just one vaccination (joy!) and handled it extremely well--not a tear was shed! This visit was easier than her last, and I attribute this mainly to the fact that I explained what was going to happen beforehand ("the doctor's going to look in your ears, mouth, eyes, etc." and "you'll get some naked baby time with just your diaper on!"), and Maia didn't have any unexpected surprises.

Some other favorites:

"That's Obama on the book."

"OR, a different milkshake."

"I put you on the street!"

"That's what she said."

"Doctor Worm video, dance party with everybody."

OK, so maybe they're not all complete sentences. And maybe one or two of them came only after our prompting. But they're still worth remembering, as far as I'm concerned.
