It was quite the weekend. Maia's continuously joyous demeanor allows me to end my weekends with a huge smile on my face. Everything for her is exciting. This weekend was no exception as it was Valentines Day!
We started it Friday night while Cara was out having dinner with a client. We went to Target to pick up some cards and chocolate for Mama. All night, she couldn't stop talking about how excited she was to give Mama her gifts. So much so, that during our lazy Saturday morning wake-up, she told Mama how excited she was to give her cards and chocolate well before we actually gave her the gifts. Cara told Maia that she "spilled the beans" which was a confusing saying for Maia. She has been repeating it all weekend, not knowing what to make of it.
We promptly opened our cards and chocolate tins. Maia even got her own (small) chocolate box, which she is slowly enjoying. (We are teaching her how to prolong a gift like that, which neither Cara or I are particularly good at.) We then enjoyed some good family time at breakfast. Cara and I had a bagel and Maia enjoyed her favorite coffee shop treat -- a scone and vanilla milk.
Saturday evening, Nana and Papa came over and partied with Maia while Cara and I got out of the house for a little while. Our outing consisted of a trip to the YMCA, the Arbor Brewing Company (ABC) and the coffee shop.
Sunday was equally exciting as Grandma and Grandpa came over for a visit. They took her to the hands-on museum, which Maia can't seem to get enough of. The museum is rather large for a kids museum, and she is often distracted by each and every exhibit. Grandma and Grandpa stayed through dinner while Maia managed to charm the living piss out of everyone with her smiles, laughs and general goofiness. She even told one of her favorite "Frog and Toad" stories to everyone in her own way.
Thats all for now. I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day. Love to all!

Harper and Steve went to get bagels, coffee and milk for everyone yesterday after yelling, "No mama and Harper go to get bagels; Dada and Harper get bagels!" Tonight she wanted to dive into her little Peanuts heart box of chocolate. Esme offered her strawberries for dessert, and Harper said (yelled more like it): "No strawberries! Just chocolate!" Since it was 8:30, we told her she had to wait until tomorrow.
Seriously, sometimes it feels like Harper and Maia have the same brain, separated by 2000 miles of continent in-between. :) These are exactly the sorts of things Maia would do and say these days.
