We had our 4-month appointment with our doc today, and Maia is doing remarkably well! At this point, she's very big indeed: she's still in the 90th percentile for her size. She might continue to be a very tall person; Brian is 6'2'', and I'm the shortest person in my immediate family at 5'7''. Also, her slight case of "positional plagiocephaly" (great alliteration!) has gotten better. In other words, the back of her head isn't quite so flat anymore. :) She also had her round of 4-month immunizations, which she's handled like a champ so far. My genius friend Lesley gave me the great idea to nurse her immediately after her shots--wow, did that ever work like a charm!
Speaking of food, the doc said that we're nowhere near having to give her solids of any kind, which was great to hear and supports what Brian and I would like to do. So, if things go according to plan, Maia won't be eating anything other than milk for another two months at least--or longer, if she seems willing. And who knows when we'll finish nursing . . . we'll certainly do the best we can to be sure that she keeps at it until she's at least a year old.
So she's sleeping right now, and if she follows the pattern of the day of her 2-month immunizations, she's likely to sleep A LOT today. I gave her a bit of Tylenol before the appointment and I might do so again once today, just to be sure that she doesn't get too achy or sore.
Also, at 16 weeks and counting, Maia still hasn't been sick. (Yep, I'm knocking on wood right now!) Brian put it very well as we left the appointment: "We really couldn't have asked for better news, could we?"
