Hey all! This is Brian writing today. It has been a while since I wrote, but today is Mother's Day, so I thought I would write a few words :)
Maia is now 4 1/2 months old, so Cara has been a Mom for more than 1/3 of a year. I can say that it suits her well. It had been incredibly warming to see the way Cara has slipped into her new role. She has been strong, loving, mindful, beautiful and kind with our baby, and I love her for that. She has been everything I would want a mother to be, and it makes me smile to say that.
It is important to note that Cara has put her career on hold for Maia. She stays all day with her, and gets up several times a night to feed her. She never feels bad or bored about nursing... instead, she feels more passionate about it. She sees her mother role as the most important thing in her life right now, and anything she has to do to fulfill that role is her proud responsibility.
To see her love Maia more than anything is awesome. Day after Day, no matter what mood she or Maia is in, she treats Maia the same: with a warm, friendly tone and a loving demeanor. Several times, I have seen her cry in happiness... just glad that her baby is hers.
This unconditional commitment makes her a fantastic mother. You can see it in Maia's eyes that she already admires and appreciates Cara's love. Maia looks up to Cara like she is the bee's knees... and she is right! Cara rocks! She is a kick-ass Mom!
I love you, Cara!
P.S. Why it is Mother's Day and not Mothers' Day? What is the rule here? Just curious.

I'll take a crack at the Mother's-Day-versus-Mothers'-Day question: singular possessive, because each of us (in theory) has only one (biological) mother whom we should honor on this particular holiday. Thus from my perspective, it's MY mother's special day, and she's the one who gets my props.
That's my guess, anyway... I got nothin' better.
It must be a very special day, indeed, for new moms! And though your offspring is not yet in a position to send cards or take you out for lunch and a mani-pedi, I'm sure she does thank you a thousand times over with those big baby blues.
