I met with my mentor today to begin outlining the training process for Lamaze certification. It's going to be several months of work, but I'll probably begin teaching sometime in August. The first thing on the schedule is to work on my HUGE outline of medical terms (the definitions will probably total about 50 pages of work when I'm done), and I also need to schedule myself for a tour of the University of Michigan hospital's Birth Center. Then, I need to sign-up for one of the childbirth classes at St. Joseph Mercy hospital; I'm encouraged to take a hospital childbirth ed. class in order to compare and contrast their teaching methods and philosophy with Lamaze's. From what I hear, they're pretty dramatically different, so it'll be interesting indeed!
