My wedding ring is stuck on my finger!!! :) I wasn't following proper pregnancy protocol, and I forgot to take off my ring in time to avoid the seemingly-inevitable 3rd trimester finger swelling. Sooo . . . I'm going to Troy tomorrow to the guy who worked with us to get the rings in the first place. I'm hoping that he won't need to cut through the metal, but, I think that's the likely route. Bummer. I know that the ring won't be ruined--this is certainly not the first case of this happening, and I'm sure that they can repair it quite well. They did, after all, do all the carving on the band in the first place. Can you tell I'm trying to say things to make myself feel better? :)
Childbirth ed. is over, and we are exactly five weeks from our due date, as of tomorrow.

Have you tried the dental floss trick? Thread a piece of dental floss between your finger and your ring. If you can't get it in there, use a lead (I think it is called that, they are used to lead dental floss behind retainers and bridges and you can get them anywhere). Then you wrap the floss very tightly around your finger. As you pull the other end of the floss, the ring will come off over the tight floss. I am pretty sure this is the sequence, but you could probably find it on the internet as well. If not, I would try submerging your hand in ice and water and use vasoline as well. That worked for Effie and Heidi (my friends). Good luck!
Thanks for the tips! All very good tips. Unfortunately, we have tried those tricks and then some. Brian was convinced that the dental floss trick would work, but it only proved painful, and caused MORE swelling... I think Cara waited a bit too long :( We even read about using an anti-inflammatory such as Preparation-H... but we hadn't tried that.
Its OK. Like Cara said, our Jeweler guy is pretty good.
