Maia on Her Own

We have had some requests for more video, so here we are! We took the camera out with us on this beautiful spring day. I got a lot of footage of her walking all over the place, but this one was the most fun. She had her mind set on a balloon ahead of her, which is why you can see her signing "ball" as she walks.

oh but it's a cliffhanger! right before the film cuts, as mom's comforting presence falls beyond the camera's gaze to the left, you see two mysterious figures approaching: one from the right, and one directly ahead... To whom do those looming pairs of legs belong? what will maia do about their appearance? do they sway her resolve to chase down the elusive balloon, always so tantalizingly beyond our frame of vision but so present in her insistent gestures? the suspense is killing me!

Do I need to post a director's cut? I have plenty more footage that I left on the cutting room floor from that scene.

actually, yes. you could post much longer edits. i would watch them. yes i would.

as long as you're taking requests... I'd love to hear some of her famous words, and see some of her famous signs/gestures.

is she old enough for a "landlord" video yet???

So, last night (4/22) I'm facilitating a Windows Basics workshop for ten. (This is like rolling off a log! What a great deal! And it's fun watching scared adults, some with literacy challenges, come up competent in Windows.) During break one of the participants and I get into "dueling toddlers," because his daughter is a month older than Maia.

My computer is hooked to the projector of course, so as everybody files back in, they're greeted by the "Maia on Her Own" vid, which charms everybody. Complete with the music, because I have the only speakers in the room, too.

So, we discuss and see blogs, photo sites, and segue right into to the work at hand....

I might work it into the curriculum permanently....

Stan Daddy

("Poppa" in this context, of course. A nickname, by the way, which she's most recently slurring toward "Bubba", which I've been encouraging; it has a certain charm for your Southern Boy.)
