What did we do today?

  • Maia reminded herself that she's cool with this whole "walking" thing, after a fall yesterday that resulted in a bump on the back of the head.
  • We went to Angelo's for breakfast, where Maia did her usual: refused all breakfast foods at first, gleefully flinging them on the floor . . . "But wait (she says), Nana Dawn and Papa Stan are eating. Let me have some!"
  • Maia walked around the mall's play area, which is a welcome place to blow off some steam on a rainy, yucky day.
  • Nana Dawn gave Maia a bath.
  • She's starting to say this cute sentence, which is "It's a _____." Usually she says "It's a ball," but today she also said "It's a cup" and "It's a bubble."
  • She's clearly turned "Papa" (as in Papa Stan) into "Baba." So now, just in case you're wondering, Papa Stan's calling himself "Bubba."
  • I think that she thinks a phone is called a "hi." Makes sense, doesn't it? We pick it up and say "Hi" or "Hello." Anyway, her friend Harper let her borrow a play phone, and Maia's a pro at putting it up to her ear and saying "Hi!" Today, at one point in the car, she was sitting in her car seat, holding Nana's cell phone up to her ear in one hand, and her water cup in the other.

"Bubba," huh. I guess it was just a matter of time.
