New weird pregnancy symptom du jour.

It's . . . numb hands in the middle of the night! Who knew? I looked it up in one of my books this morning, and they say it's perfectly normal when your hands and feet begin to swell up late in pregnancy. This process has been hugely educational for me in the ways that our bodies are totally interconnected--something happening in my abdomen, several feet away from my fingers, is having an impact on the way my nerves are behaving in my fingertips. Wacky!

Busy week of baby stuff:
  • Wednesday evening, we meet the pediatricians at an "Open House" at their office. After that, we choose the doctor we'd like as our primary physician, and then we just inform the hospital of our decision at birth time.
  • Thursday morning, my 38 week O.B. appointment. I've commenced crossing my fingers, rubbing rabbits' feet, and making wishes with pennies in fountains for some physical sign that the baby is coming soon. Please?
  • Thursday evening, we're going on another tour of the Birth Center just to refresh our memories of the place, and to ask some questions while we're there.
  • Friday afternoon, I have an appointment at Mott Children's Hospital (in the massive behemoth of the U. of M. complex) to get our car seat inspected. Must make sure it's installed correctly!

Hey, that's cool, I've had numb hands and feet in the middle of the night before... but as it turns out, I was stoned, not pregnant. Heh.

So interesting to learn about this stuff from you!
